CHARLOTTE AND THE MAGNET FISHERPEOPLE
Photography
Under a steel bridge on the River Aire in Leeds, Charlotte and her family magnet-fish for metal.
They return regularly, working the water methodically. Most finds are ordinary and sold on to a scrap dealer. The process is practical, shared, and calm.
Occasionally the river gives up something else. On one outing, they pulled up a WWII rifle grenade, triggering a bomb-squad evacuation, a reminder that unseen risk and history sit just below the surface of everyday routine.
