HEARTLAND
Photography
Heartland is a body of work made across the Midwest of the United States, photographing people and places shaped by systems that continue to operate beyond visibility or attention.
The work is made during intermittent visits, using distance to sharpen observation. The photographs focus on moments of stillness, where little appears to be happening but pressure is present.
Interiors, landscapes, and portraits are treated with the same restraint, using colour, light, and composition to carry meaning without instruction or emphasis. The work avoids nostalgia and commentary, favouring clarity and control.
