Held Light
Photography
Held Light uses the sky as a controlled field of light and colour rather than a depiction of weather. The photographs are made at moments of visual quiet, when subtle tonal shifts can register without emphasis. Images are produced primarily in-camera, using glass filters and reflection to shape colour at the point of capture, allowing colour to be balanced physically rather than digitally. Working between representation and abstraction, the work avoids literal description in favour of psychological clarity. Attention is allowed to settle rather than be directed, resulting in images that hold tone, duration, and composure.
